Oil Painting en Plein Air with Lori Feldpausch

Wednesday, July 9
10:00 - 4:00
$75 (pack your lunch)
Pre-registration required.
Sign up and pay by clicking on the "Classes" tab.

The class will begin with a discussion on the elements of a great painting (composition, design and color) followed by experimentation in mixing colors to create a highly vibrational color scheme.
Mixing colors, as opposed to using premixed colors,  helps create harmony within a painting. After a short lunch break, Lori will begin a demo in the garden.  She'll share her thoughts and process as she completes a plein air study. Students are invited to ask questions while she paints.  In the afternoon students will set up to paint en plein air.  Lori will visit each student through the course of the workshop to provide instruction.  Class size is limited to ensure each student receives individual attention.

The Instructor-Lori Feldpausch
I am a representational painter, painting in oils.  A native of northern Michigan, my love for the outdoors and interest in art has been lifelong.  I have a keen sense of simple places and spaces that translate well to my plein art artwork.   When I reflect on the world around me I find endless inspiration.  I am a big believer in self-study.  Having examined a long lineage of artists, I feel a sense of history when I paint, a connectiveness to the source of information, be it the color of green Edgar Payne used on his water or the the light that streams across a Sorrola painting. My paintings are more than just a concept or design, they are more from  capturing a feeling from the heart, an unwritten word.  A soul connection from the painter to the viewer.
